A former coach house on Devon Road, this charming property was in much need of love, care, and bringing up to code. From structural works to eco-friendly energy sources, we restored it to its former glory, keeping the cottage feel but with the comfort of modern facilities.   

An extensive renovation that took a year in the making, the inn had been converted into a private home many years ago, but had since been neglected. With new owners, it needed a new lease of life, which began with extensive structural works including the replacement of an old ridge beam to secure the room, the addition of a large dormer window, rebuilding a retaining wall where the property was nestled into a bank, and extensive groundworks. 

Inside we reconfigured the property as well, moving the staircase and several interior walls to change the flow of the space and how it's used. Given the age and location of the property we needed to damp-proof it before installing all the mod cons including new plumping and electrics. This included a solar heat pump and battery storage for an eco-friendly home.

While the home's new infrastructure was the height of contemporary living, the owners wanted to honour the heritage of the house with the interior style. We therefore kept a more traditional look and feel when it came to the painting and decorating, resulting in a home that's fit for the 21st century but celebrates its past as well.
